CPC offers abstinence education through sexual risk avoidance in partnership with the LIFEguard ProgramTM. This curriculum is composed of age-appropriate education encouraging life responsibility and character education for sexual and relational health. It includes ideas in resisting peer pressure, the negative consequences of pre-marital sex, the concept of renewed virginity, and setting goals for the future. LIFEguard ProgramTM also offers an assignment that will open the door for conversations between students and parents regarding this topic. This program is geared towards 7th and 9th grade students participating in their required Health/PE class. Carolina Pregnancy Center has been welcomed into all 19 public middle and high schools in Pitt County to present the four day LIFEguard ProgramTM.
During the 2016-2017 school year:
- 642 out of 887 Middle School students who participated in the post-survey (72.4%) indicated a decision to choose sexual risk avoidance in order to benefit their lifestyle.
- 873 out of 1,454 High School students who participated in the post-survey (60%) indicated a decision to choose sexual risk avoidance in order to benefit their lifestyle.
If you or someone you know has a heart for this part of our ministry and would like to get involved, we have many opportunities for you! We are actively looking for those willing to help serve as silent observers in the classroom setting.
CPC also provides sexual integrity presentations to youth groups, on college campuses, or wherever we are invited to share.
