Sherry Thornton – Executive Director
Sherry is a retired school counselor and obtained her Master’s of Education (Counseling) through East Carolina University. She has worked for three years in pregnancy center ministry (Wilson, NC) and has brought to the table an unwavering and unyielding dedication to the spiritual /Gospel-centered identity of pregnancy center ministry. She loves music, going camping with her family and seeing new places.
Sylvia Smith – Executive Assistant
Sylvia Smith is a retired school secretary who joined the CPC staff in September 2020. Although she has no prior experience with pregnancy centers, Sylvia is no stranger to ministry. An ordained minister, she holds a Bachelor of Biblical Studies from Grand Canyon University and a Doctor of Theology from the North Carolina College of Theology. Along with her passion for serving others, Sylvia brings over 30 years of experience in administrative support.
Anne Keene – Client Services Director
Anne Keene began serving on staff at CPC in January 2014. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics and served 7 years as a CPC Client Advocate prior to joining the staff team. Anne is passionate about listening to and supporting clients. She also enjoys training volunteers who can assist with outreach. Anne is married to Brenan, and they have two married children.
Laurie Stewart – Client Services Assistant
Laurie holds a(n) MA in Counseling: Life Coaching from Liberty University. She has served as a peer counselor at CPC for (I’m not sure!!) years. Laurie is passionate about being the hands and feet of Jesus – making clients feel comfortable and safe to share what is on their hearts and minds. She also enjoys connecting them with whatever resources they might need, whether it be something we offer or a referral. Laurie is married to Josh and they have 3 busy teenagers.
Barbara Knox – Operations Director
Barbara began serving on staff in November 2017. She attended North Carolina Wesleyan College and Pitt Community College studying Business Administration and Human Services/Counseling. After a 20 year career caring for seniors in long term care, she was called to serve at CPC where she welcomes every client with warmth and kindness. Barbara is married to Gregory and they have two children, Dan in Boston and Angela in Bear Grass and two grandchildren.
Patti Weisenberger, RN – Nurse Manager
Patti is a seasoned Registered Nurse with over 34 years of experience in a variety of nursing fields. She un-retired to join CPC in spreading faith and the love of the unborn. Her “Nana” experience gives her compassion and empathy for our Moms, and while this is a new area of medicine, she is embracing it wholeheartedly. A Richmond native, Patti has lived in Greenville for almost 45 years. She has been married to Bob for over 50 years and they share 3 children and 6 beautiful grandchildren.
Miriam Carey – Certified Sonographer
Miriam Carey is a certified and registered sonographer. She began serving on staff at CPC in April 2015 and is excited to utilize her sonography skills in support of CPC’s mission. Miriam lives in Greenville with husband Mike, and their twin college boys, Michael and Aaron.
Joy Hardee – Prevention Program Coordinator Joy graduated with a BA in Psychology and an MBA from ECU. Joy has a love for teaching. In fact, in addition to homeschooling her boys for eight years, Joy taught parenting classes at CPC as a volunteer for more than 13 years. As Joy looked at going back into the workforce, she jokingly told God, “I would like to teach life skills, but who is going to hire me for that?” Just a few days later, a friend sent her a text about the opening at CPC. Joy loves interacting with students and helping them develop skills for healthy relationships. Joy and her husband Donald have two teenage boys.
