
Sherry Thornton – Executive Director
Sherry Thornton is a retired school guidance counselor and obtained her Master’s of Education (Counseling) through East Carolina University in 1998. Prior to joining the CPC team, Sherry worked for three years at a pregnancy center in Wilson, NC. She has brought to the table an unwavering and unyielding dedication to the spiritual /Gospel-centered identity of pregnancy center ministry.

Sylvia Smith – Executive Assistant
Sylvia Smith is a retired school secretary who joined the CPC staff in September 2020. Although she has no prior experience with pregnancy centers, Sylvia is no stranger to ministry. An ordained minister, she holds a Bachelor of Biblical Studies from Grand Canyon University and a Doctor of Theology from the North Carolina College of Theology. Along with her passion for serving others, Sylvia brings over 30 years of experience in administrative support.

Angela Nichols – Client Services Director
Angie, is a seasoned nurse with 9.5 years experience, who loves people, and helping others. She has been volunteering at the Coastal Pregnancy Center since December 2021. Angie is enthusiastic, outgoing, self driven and very compassionate. She enjoys helping others learn and helping them to meet their goals through her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. She is inspired daily by her husband and their four children. In her free time, Angie likes to hike (in Virginia-hometown), help husband in building projects, loves to learn, and enjoys all the quality time with building her family in Christ.

Deana-Marie Rose – Prevention Director
Deana-Marie obtained her bachelor’s degree in Public Health Studies with a concentration in Community Health Promotion from East Carolina University in 2013. She received a certificate in Nutrition Health Coaching in 2019 from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Deana has a passion for helping others which is displayed by her time spent at the food bank, gas drives and other community events held by her church. Since 2020, Deana has been serving as a Life Group Leader at her church home, Koinonia Christian Center. Deana is a native to the island of Bermuda, who currently lives in Kinston, NC with her wonderful husband Joel and their two handsome sons Josiah and Hezekiah. She enjoys spending quality time with her busy family, creating lasting memories, cooking and baking. She loves horses, as well as the beach, and savors the rare moments of quiet to indulge in her love for reading. Last but not least she is a novice but enjoys mastering the violin.

Miriam Carey – Certified Sonographer
Miriam Carey is a certified and registered sonographer. She began serving on staff at CPC in April 2015 and is excited to utilize her sonography skills in support of CPC’s mission. Miriam lives in Greenville with husband Mike, and their twin college boys, Michael and Aaron.

Karen Pittman – Nurse Manager
Karen Pittman obtained her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education in 2009 from East Carolina University. After retiring from a 25-year career teaching nursing and dialysis technology, she was called into the ministry of serving others at CPC. She is warm and caring and is excited to utilize her skills and God’s grace to help those families in need. Karen is married to Bobby, and
they have 3 married children and 6 grandchildren, all of whom are the “apple of her eye”.


Cynthia Floyd – Grants Administrator (Contracted Staff Support)
Cynthia obtained her Bachelor’s of Psychology and Master’s of Counselor Education both from East Carolina University. She retired from the state of North Carolina after a full career of serving as a school counselor, a district executive director of student services, and a state specialist consultant for school counseling and related services. Since her retirement, she has continued to support special initiatives aimed at promoting whole-child and family success and wellness, including joining CPC as grants administrator.
